Taxonomy of Realtime Interfaces for Electronic Music Performance
This questionnaire is part of an Australian Research Council Linkage project ("Performance Practice in New Interfaces for Realtime Electronic Music Performance") exploring the practice and application of new interfaces for real-time electronic music performance. We hope to discover and define perceptual characteristics of control in both acoustic instruments and experimental interfaces for electronic music performance; identifying, quantifying and categorising the perceived control gestures employed by musicians from the performer’s perspective.
You will be asked a number of questions about your interface/instrument. The survey is arranged into six sections – 1 General Description; 2 Design Objectives; 3 Physical Design; 4 Parameter Space; 5 Performance Practice; 6 Classification. Don’t be put off by the size of the questionnaire, fill in as much as you are able to or that you consider relevant to your instrument/interface, we appreciate all input. If you have "cookies" enabled in your web browser setting you can revisit the survey to complete at a later date until you click the final "Submit" button.
A few questions are required and have been identified with a red asterisk (
*).
You will also be asked if you would like to be informed of the results of this research and if you would like your interface/instrument listed on our database.
If you agree to have your interface/instrument listed on our database then only the questions in
blue will be included. All other responses will remain confidential. Of course if you do not select to be included on our database then all responses will remain confidential.
